The Bunker Project – Episode 1

The Bunker Alley Boys – Video Show Notes

This week on the Bunker Project Andrew and Bob talk about the new podcast, the format of the show and what listeners can expect.

We talk about social media, podcasting equipment and wordpress. Our first guest arrived 15 minutes into the show! Alison Banister is a WordPress expert and shared her views on why WordPress is her platform of choice for blogging, CMS and even static web pages. We talked a little bit about WordPress Plugins but experienced a collective brain freeze when trying to remember the plugins we like the most!

We chat about the WordPress Themes that we all use. Andrew uses Der Prinz Branford Magazine Theme and Wynton Magazine Theme for a few of my sites. I also use Elegant Themes where you can get access to a ton of great themes for a low price. Very good value.

Note: Podcast Hero uses an Elegant Theme as of May 2011.

Tip: If you want an easy way to set up a Squeeze Page, Sales Page or Membership site check out Optimize Press. Optimize Press is a WordPress theme that is optimized for this purpose. Check out the Optimize Press video HERE to learn more about how powerful this theme is. I’ve messed with plugins and tweaked themes in the past but Optimize Press takes care of it all for you. You just need to create your content of course.

Those black beers at The Bunker sure are good!

We talked about the difference between wordpress.org and wordpress.com and whether it was worth having a wordpress.com page for SEO purposes. All that and a whole lot more.

For more information about how to set up your online presence using wordpress see the Tips and Tricks post on Setting up your Home on the Web!
