The WordPress Trap
I love WordPress.
A lot of other people do!
WordPress sites comprise 40% of the internet.
And there are thousands of plugins to make your site look amazing.
The only downside is it can be time-consuming due to the infinite design possibilities.
With so many options you can build anything you can imagine.
Which means it can become a serious distraction.
It can kill your podcast business.
And that is the trap.
It can be a major time suck.
You can spend hours changing themes and installing new plugins.
You can tweak colors, fonts, styles, and backgrounds.
Or add plugins that seem cool but aren’t needed.
This time would be much better spent.
Producing digital products,
Courses and services,
I fell into the trap.
But eventually, I got out.
If you’re in the WordPress Trap you can get out too.
Here is what Cliff Ravenscraft (The Podcast Answer Man) has to say about this…
Remember that people are interested in the gift inside the box.
… and not the wrapping paper.
Focus on what is most important.
Substance comes first.
Don’t be seduced by shiny objects.
Don’t let your website design be an outlet for the resistance.
If you are easily distracted consider starting out with a service like Squarespace.
Or use your Libsyn homepage as your website for now.
Whatever it takes to focus on something real.
Build something useful.
